2 Independent Artists you NEED to check out!
It's been a while since I gave some recommendations of Indie Artists that I've been fortunate enough to be playing on the same bill with...but worry no more, for I have 2 acts I could not recommend enough! Both of which I got to see due to my performance at the wodnerful Luna Lounge, home of live music in Leytonstone!
As always these are Independent acts that are working Muso's trying to bring some joy and creativity to the people! So, lif you like them, plesse be sure to go see them live, show them some online love and buy their music!
Essentially, support independent music!
The Swamp Stomp String Band
The Swamp Stomp String band, are a duo consisting of Jake Watson (Guitar, Banjo, Kazoo, Vocals and Harmonica!) and George Pearson (Double Bass and Vocals) who play a mixture of Bluegrass, Blues, Ragtime and Skiffle songs. They tell stories of boozing, jilted love and fighting, all the while making the audience dance and stomp their feet. What's not to like?!
I actually was lucky enough to catch their show when they had enlisted the extraordinary talent of their friend, Hannah Davis, who was playing the Washboard. Though I am well aware of the concept of the Washboard as a musical instrument and have heard it on recordings, I'd never had the sheer joy of watching someone play one in front of my very own peepers! It no doubt helped that Hannah was exceptionally talented at scrapping, hitting and banging that board, but none-the-less, what I am trying to get across to you here is go fucking see someone play a washboard. It's wonderful.
Washboards aside (!), the band write awesomely catchy and fun tunes that would make any night an absolue belter. I was transfixed by The Swamp Stomp String Band and I would be very surprised if anyone else wasn't the same. GO. SEE. THEM!

The Glass Mountains
Keeping the energy up and sticking with the theme of unadulterated joy, I give to you, The Glass Mountains!
I went a bit Jools Holland there for that intro, huh?!
The Glass Mountains are a Country-Soul band, who seem to have a never ending supply of that good ol' Country Soul. The band are made up by, Owen Davies (Vocals), Malcolm MacWatt (Rhythm Guitar and Backing Vocals), Michael Espie (Lead Guiatr and Backing Vocals), Stephen Page (Drums) and Peter Feldon (Bass) and they are making some sweet, sweet music.
They herald from South London, but you'd be forgiven for thinking that they have lived their entire lives over in Nashville. Their sound is pure and honest, never feeling like a band from South London trying to be a country band - They simply have it in their blood. Owen Davies vocals are something to behold as he sings to us about Pick up trucks, city life and love lost and the band is fantastically tight, especailly considering they only formed in the middle of last year.
They are playing and performing and they deserve your support, so put your stetson on and get along to a show!
